Backstory
Meant as a teaser for Some Good Raps, Gettysburg is a combination of 2 very different vibes. See me and Zateb have a bad habit of making really good music and then hoarding them from the masses. Over the years me and Zateb had created more than 2 albums worth of music:
Proto-Some Good Raps: about 9-12 songs that we had made over the course of the pandemic
Say I Won’t: a collaborative vent between me, Teb, and D Nel, airing our grievances about working our jobs
These projects sat and rotted in our Google drive folders for years until the end of 2024. That’s when I decided to just start dropping everything, clean out the drive, and make space for more creative energy. When I got around to the songs me and Teb had, I decided to have a longer roll out since the songs were so good, with Gettysburg to catch attention and Some Good Raps coming in to really lay it out. So now you know how it came about, lemme tell you about this pairing.
Tracklist
Track 1: Get Off
This track comes from Say I Won’t, and the premise goes as such - You work the closing shift, and you have someone back at home hot, ready and blowing up your phone to come home. It’s a high energy track that was actually inspired by a wild ass, molly-fueled, Tinder connection. Now a gentlethem doesn’t kiss and tell but I will say this.. the next day she took ME shopping 😎
Track 2: Get Up
This is actually the very first song me and Zateb recorded when we met. Something about this song makes me feel all floaty if I close my eyes and zone out a little bit. You would think that since we met literally RIGHT before starting to record, things would be a little awkward at first but no! Right off the bat we fell into the flow of it and had so much fun. It’s just a really special tune, and it flows really well after Get Off.
